Some race results and other updates!
Alright so since racing season has (un)officially started, I think it's time to update everyone that reads the 3T blog on some results garnered by our team members.
Several team members have been doing some running as part of a leadup to an appearance at the Boston Marathon on April 18th, 2011. Some 5k times include a 16:19 by Scott Woodbury, a 17:08 by Ashley Ackerman (both at Cupid's Cup 5k), and a 17:10 by Andrew Fletcher. John Behme also managed to notch a 19:20 in his first 5k appearance since college in the Corporate Cup 5k.
Jackie Savage and Scott Woodbury also traveled down to Atlanta for the Charles Harris 10k on February 26th. Both were looking for a good workout in their Boston training and they both accomplished that. Coming off an injury, Jackie notched an impressive 41:24, good for 2nd in her age group. Scott finished first in his age group with a 34:22. A lot of Atlanta runners use this race as a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race, so the quality of the competition is steep. Results
Colleen Cummins, Steve Watkins, and Kristi Ray also notched solid marathons at the Black Mountain Marathon and all managed to finish together after a 4.5hr day on an exceptionally difficult course.
Most recently, Scott Woodbury also notched what was very close to a PR at the Corporate Cup Half Marathon, coming in 4th place OA with a 1:16:57. Additionally, Jackie Savage continued her streak of fast times coming off her hip injury as she cruised to a 1:33:34, good for 13th place overall female and 3rd place in her age group. From here on out, both team members will be continuing to build their mileage and speed for Boston!
Other members have been focusing on single-sport racing for the time being as well. James Haycraft and John Behme both competed in the Donaldson Center Road Race, part of the Greenville Training Series put on by Hincapie Sports, albeit in different categories. James managed to notch a victory in the category 4 race while John finished with the pack in the Masters 35+ race. Two weekends later (this weekend...), James also managed to win the Blythewood Omnium Cat 4 Road Race, earning his final points to upgrade to Category 3.
Stephanie Hucko completed the team's first multisport event, earning 2nd female OA at the Charlotte Duathlon put on by FS Series. While the race was in its 3rd year, the new venue changed the way the race played out a bit. Stephanie missed out on 1st OA by just a hair over 3 minutes, and considering 1st place OA Female was/is a professional NRC cyclist and had the fastest bike split by 3.5 minutes (over Stephanie) that's a very good result!
The first triathlon of the year was also held this weekend in Wilmington, NC at the Azalea Triathlon - part of the Inside Out Sports Triathlon Series by Setup Events - on Saturday and Sunday. Frank Fawcett was the only 3T team member competing on Saturday and he managed to notch a 4th place Masters (17th OA) in a STACKED field. Drew Brashear made the drive to compete in Sunday's race (same course, different day) and sneaked in for an 8th place OA and 3rd place AG finish! Two great results to start the year and clean off some of the rust!!
All in all some very solid, promising results for Triple Threat Racing team members to start off 2011! Plenty more podiums and overall wins to come the rest of the year!
